About me

If you think yoga is only for the young and flexible, let me tell you how I got here.

I went to my first yoga class when I was 27. I felt awkward, out of place, and had no idea what I was doing. I left convinced yoga wasn’t for me.

Years later, at 45, I decided to give yoga another try. I still couldn’t “do” the poses the way I thought I was supposed to, but something felt different this time. Even when I wobbled or fell, yoga resonated with me in a way I couldn’t explain. And I kept going back — because I started to notice subtle shifts in how I felt, both in my body and in my everyday life.

At the time, I was drinking more than I wanted to. Like many women I know, I used wine to take the edge off after a stressful day — but one glass too easily became two or three. I knew it wasn’t helping me feel calm or sleep well, but I didn’t know what else to do.

Yoga wasn’t a quick fix, but it gently gave me something I’d been missing: a way to calm my nervous system without pouring another glass. Breath by breath, class by class, I began to feel more grounded, more centered, and more able to handle stress without turning to alcohol.

It wasn’t just about moving my body — it was about calming my mind, reconnecting with myself, and finding moments of true peace. Over time, my relationship with alcohol changed. The urge to reach for it softened, and my sleep, energy, and mood all improved.

Yoga is so much more than poses or flexibility. It’s about creating calmness and connection. It’s about nurturing resilience, discovering your inner strength, and realizing you are enough just as you are.

If you’ve ever thought yoga wasn’t for you — because of your age, your stiffness, or how you think you “should” look or move — I want you to know, yoga is for you. It’s for every body, every stage of life, and every journey you are on. It can help you move more easily, improve your health, sleep more deeply — and most importantly, find new ways to create calm and balance in your life.

It changed my life, and it can change yours too.
